Bamboo & Cork Flooring
At Carpet N’ Drapes Carpet One Floor & Home in Jacksonville and Orange Park, FL we offer more than just your traditional hardwood flooring. We also offer different types of wood flooring including bamboo and cork. Continue reading below to learn more about these unique flooring options.
Natural Cork Flooring
Cork is harvested from the bark of the Cork Oak tree. The unusually thick bark is made up of millions of tiny prism like air pockets that create a resilient cushioned surface. Cork flooring today is created from the post-industrial by-product of the bottle-stopper industry. This leftover material is ground up and then formed into sheets using small amounts of adhesive to bind the particles together under high pressure. Just like any wood floor, be sure to maintain a moderate temperature in your home, and prevent long-term exposure to moisture and sunlight. These floors are not well suited for kitchens or bathrooms.
Natural Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo is an environmentally friendly option because it is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. It is not only a healthy alternative for the environment, but also for your home because it helps to reduce airborne allergens. Bamboo is harder than some wood species, and does not absorb moisture as easily, and the finish lasts longer. Bamboo flooring boasts a unique appearance that is complementary to many decors. Exotic and elegant, the beauty of bamboo will enhance your interior while remaining true to its natural origins.
